Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay's birth was on the 24th day of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of art by her aunt Denise at the age of a small kid. The aunt worked as an overnight nursing assistant so that she could have the chance to learn about art theatre or literature. DuVernay enjoyed the movie West Side Story, which she brought to her. DuVernay learned that art is a great instrument to engage in political activism. In the same way, her mother was socially aware and taught her to say something through art. DuVernay resided in Compton throughout her life, but spent every summer in the company of her father's extended family in Lowndes County Alabama. DuVernay's Dad recalled seeing the Civil Rights Movement's historic march along the Edmund Pettus Bridge near the town of Selma Alabama. DuVernay toured Selma in the summer and was motivated to make a documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay received her Saint Joseph High School diploma in Lakewood California. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles following her graduation, and received degrees in English and African American Studies. While she was still studying, DuVernay began to consider producing for television journalism. Her first job was working as an assistant at CBS News in the O.J. Simpson Trial. DuVernay recalled being given an assignment to watch the residence and scrutinizing the waste belonging to one of the jury. She was disappointed by her journalism tasks and decided to change to the public relations industry. DuVernay was hired right after graduating from college as an assistant publicist in the studio that was small. She founded The DuVernay Agency, her company for public relations in 1999. In addition to PR, the company created several lifestyle networks including Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful.
